‘PUBG’ Lands On Google Stadia, Other EA Games To Follow

“PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds” (PUBG) is now available to play on Google Stadia and it’s just the first of more popular titles coming to the platform.
In a press release (via Gematsu), PUBG Corporation announced that its popular battle royale game can now be purchased on the Stadia store through different options. Players who signed up and subscribed for Stadia Pro will receive “PUBG – Pioneer Edition” for free, but it can be upgraded to the Chicken Dinner Edition for $34.99 USD until May 26.
Upgrading to the Chicken Dinner Edition gives players the base game and the Survivor Pass: Cold Front. A Stadia Exclusive Skin Set is also included in the upgrade, along with 6,000 G-coins, Aviator Set, Brown Hat Ranger Set, Ivory School Uniform Set, Cheerleader Set, Factory Worker Set and Hipster Set.
“PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds pioneered the Battle Royale genre, and we’re excited to continue evolving and growing our audience with Stadia, the pioneer in cloud-based gaming,” PUBG Corporation head of console Ashley Youngsun Nam said in a press release.
“With instant access to PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds through Stadia Pro and access to cross-platform play, gamers have no excuse but to drop-in and land, loot, and survive in our iconic Battle Royale experience.”
As mentioned, however, “PUBG” is not the only major title coming to the cloud-based gaming platform. In an announcement on its website, Electronic Arts unveiled its partnership with Google to bring its titles to Stadia.
While there is no specific date when EA games will arrive on Stadia, Google general manager and vice president Phil Harrison noted that titles such as “FIFA,” “Madden NFL,” and “Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order” will be made available by the end of 2020.
More games are planned to be added by 2021.
“Cloud is opening up exciting new possibilities for play,” Electronic Arts CEO Andrew Wilson said in the press release. “In partnering with Google Stadia, we have an opportunity to deliver some creative and innovative game experiences on an exciting new platform.”
For the uninitiated, Google Stadia is a cloud-based gaming service that allows players to access games using different hardware. With the platform, players can enjoy their games through TVs, laptops, desktops, and select tablets and phones.
